Public browsing on root.ceo uses no analytics, advertising trackers, or visitor cookies. Fonts, scripts, and images are hosted with the site. Public notes and build updates are also available through RSS.

Browser experiments

The timing challenge and JSON comparison run in your browser. Their inputs and results are kept in memory while the page is open. They are not uploaded or saved in browser storage.

Private publishing

The owner login uses a necessary, secure session cookie to keep the publishing area signed in. Drafts, published posts, and account details are stored on the server. Login attempts are temporarily recorded to limit repeated attempts. Public visitors cannot read drafts. Signing out ends the session.

Loading a page

Like any website, loading this site sends technical information, such as your IP address and the requested URL, to the hosting server so it can deliver the page.

Writing assistant

The private publishing desk can connect to OpenAI with an API key supplied by the owner. The key is encrypted on the server and is not returned to the browser. When the owner requests a draft, the topic, source notes, audience, and writing preferences are sent to OpenAI. Public browsing and the browser experiments do not send content to OpenAI.

Links and email

Some links take you to other websites, which have their own privacy practices. The contact link opens your email application. If you send an email, the information you choose to include is used to respond to your message.
